It is a revised and updated edition of the one published in 2016 with the same title. The book was conceived and planned by Midori Kitamura, who has worked with Miyake for more than 50 years, bringing together all of Miyake’s work from 1960 to 2022.
Covering Miyake’s work after the 2016 edition, it is a rich visual retrospective that covers the full scope of his work, which spanned clothing design, exhibition planning, publishing, and the founding of 21_21 DESIGN SIGHT. It also features an essay by Kazuko Koike, a leading figure in the Japanese creative world. The cover for the new edition is an Irving Penn photograph of « Rhythm Pleats » (Spring-Summer 1990 Collection).
This is the ultimate guide to the work and perspective of Issey Miyake, who has continuously brought wonder and joy to people through his design.
